How to use interval timer setting on nikon d300s?

I know how to set it up, i got 'now', hit the right arrow key and set the interval time and then the number of shots but when i try to click 'ok' to start it it doesnt let me his ok, am i missing a step here? like does certain settings have to be set in order for it to work? like manual or something?
